Strawberry Daiquiri
Meet the Strawberry Daiquiri: frosty, fruity, and basically July in a glass.
It’s our Drink of the Month because when summer turns the thermostat all the way up, we believe your cocktail should come with its own built in air conditioning. This homemade version skips the store bought mix and lets frozen strawberries, fresh lime, and a good white rum do the heavy lifting. The frozen fruit creates that perfect slushy texture naturally, which means less fuss and more time for important summer activities. Like pickleball. Or recovering from pickleball.
Why we love it:
It’s cold. It’s tart. It’s just sweet enough. And it has the kind of bright strawberry flavor that makes you wonder why anyone ever invited bottled daiquiri mix to the party. This is the drink you want after a sweaty match, beside a pool, or anytime someone suggests doing anything outdoors in July and you need a little liquid encouragement.
Recipe:
1 pound frozen strawberries
6 tablespoons simple syrup or pure maple syrup
¼ cup fresh lime juice
1 cup best quality white or light rum
1 cup ice
⅛ teaspoon kosher salt
Makes 4 drinks
How to make it:
Add the frozen strawberries, simple syrup, lime juice, rum, ice, and kosher salt to a blender.
Blend until completely smooth and gloriously slushy.
Give it a taste and add a little more syrup if needed. Frozen strawberries can vary in sweetness, much like pickleball partners vary in their interpretation of “mine.”
Pour into four glasses.
Serve immediately and enjoy somewhere appropriately summery.
Bonus points for a fresh strawberry or lime wheel on the rim and absolutely no points deducted if you drink yours in the air conditioning.
